Jack Peacock Trophy
Awarded to the Best Club Person
Jack‘s 16 seasons began in 1959 scoring 8383 runs @ 42.55, including 21 centuries, 15 wickets & 84 catches,. He played in five 1st XI Premierships and in season 1966-67 scored 1076 runs in 13 Matches (16 Innings) including 2 consecutive double centuries.
Jack is the first and only player to make a double century (208 no) at the MPCA’s headquarters at Graydens Rd.
A Baxter life member since 1984, Jack is fondly remembered for “having one for the road”
Kevin Prideaux Memorial Trophy
Awarded to the Most Improved Player
William ‘Kevin’ Prideaux first played for Baxter in 1951 and was Club President from 1953-1955. On 1st October 1955 whilst batting on the Baxter Oval, Kevin was tragically struck and killed by lighting. The Prideaux family set up the Kevin Prideaux Memorial Trophy for the most improved player to honour Kevin’s memory.
A memorial match to raise money for Kevin’s family was played at Frankston Park (VFL) on 30th November 1955. Lindsay Hassett (former Australia Captain), led a side of State and Melbourne District Players, including Colin McDonald & George Murray, against a combined Baxter/Mornington Peninsula Team led by Bob Hooper. Test Bowler Jack Iverson played in the Baxter team
RM Hooper Club Champion Award
Awarded to the First XI player who accumulates the most points
Bob was club Secretary from 1950 – 1957 and President in 1984-85. He was an Executive Member of the Association for 22 years and was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1985 for services to cricket. He played in five 1st XI Premierships with a highest Score 153no and made 18 centuries. His best bowling was match figures of 15 wickets for 68 runs (8/33 & 7/35) against Tyabb.
Wayne Landry Club Aggregate Award
Awarded to the player from ALL grades who accumulates the most points
Known to all at Baxter Cricket Club Wayne Landry is a club stalwart who commenced playing in 1965 and still plays today (50 consecutive seasons).
Wayne has been a Committee Member for 45 years and a Life Member since 1984. He has played over 560 games and featured in 13 Grand Finals, including six Premierships. He has made more than 8,600 runs and taken over 400 wickets.
RM (Mick) Scales Junior Club Champion Award
Awarded the Junior player who accumulates the most points
Mick first played seniors as a 12yo in 1962 and played in the First XI as a 15 yo. He captained MPCA U16 and U21 representative sides and was awarded MPCA Cecil Evans U21 trophy.
Mick played in 2 Country Week campaigns and 3 first XI premierships. He coached Baxter juniors for 7 years and is a life member, former club president and committee member.
